Emma Stewart – Counsellor

BA (Hons), MA (Hons), Dip. Counselling | MBACP

Hello, I’m Emma – a qualified counsellor offering in-person, online, and outdoor therapy
sessions. I’m based in Comber and work from a private, calm space within Physio+, where I offer clients a safe, compassionate environment to explore whatever they’re carrying.

With a background in Social Anthropology and a Master’s in Creative Writing, I’ve always been drawn to questions of meaning, identity, and human connection. My approach is integrative and story-aware, shaped by a range of psychological models including person-centred, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, CBT, and narrative therapy.

Whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or simply ready to get to know yourself more deeply, I offer a space that’s grounded, non-judgemental, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I believe healing begins when we feel truly seen – and that your story matters.

As someone who’s been on the counselling journey myself, I understand the courage it takes to show up. I’m here to walk alongside you – with curiosity, care, and respect for your pace and
experience.

How I Work
Everything we do starts with you – your story, your needs, your pace. Together, we’ll create space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface, make sense of your experiences, and move forward with greater understanding of who you are and what you need.

I offer:
● In-Person Counselling – from my room at Physio+, a setting that reflects my attention
to the mind-body connection. We may explore how stress, emotion, and trauma are held
in the body – and how you can reconnect, regulate, and build resilience.
● Online & Phone Sessions – accessible options that allow you to work with me from the
comfort and privacy of your own space.
● Walk and Talk Therapy – combining physical movement with therapeutic conversation
outdoors, which can be especially grounding for those who benefit from being in nature.

Areas I Support
Clients come to me for support with a wide range of issues, including:
● Anxiety, stress and low mood
● Confidence and self-esteem
● Grief and loss
● Religious trauma, deconstruction, and purity culture
● Relationship and sexuality exploration
● Parenting and family challenges
● Body image concerns
● Neurodivergence
● Existential and identity questions
