Thai Massage

We are delighted to offer both Hot Oil and Traditional Thai Massage at Physio Plus. Nina Buchanan trained in Thailand 11 years ago and has practiced both in Thailand and within our clinic in Northern Ireland.)

What is Thai Massage?

Thai massage is an ancient healing system combining traditional body massage techniques, acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. Nina adapts each massage for individuals’ aches, injuries or requirements providing a professionally tailored massage for each client.

What is the difference between Hot Oil and Traditional Thai Massage?

Hot oil massage: this is performed by applying deep pressure onto the skin in order to stretch the muscles, and acupressure to stimulate the energy meridians of the body. She uses palms and fingertips to apply pressure that flows rhythmically from one to the other to stimulate blood circulation, relieve tightness and promote relaxation. The oil enriches the skin and combines with the massage techniques to refresh and renew the body. Clients start with this type of massage before Nina feels they are ready to move onto traditional Thai massage.

Traditional Thai massage: this is a fully clothed, restorative and holistic massage that stimulates acupressure points and stretches your muscles through gentle, rhythmic manipulation.  In this passive yoga treatment your joints and muscles are gently manipulated by Nina, for an effortless full body workout that relieves your aches and pains.
